Could it be the best LOTR game since the Return of the King

Ive played most of the LOTR games for PS2, PS3, and PC from the "Two Towers" to the "LOTR Conquest" and nothing has come close to the "Return of The King" and the "The Third Age"(Final Fantasy Style) games. Could this be the next big LOTR game, or have they thrown another bad curve ball at us? Am I getting my hopes up once again?

I have played most if not all lord of the ring games and I have to agree return of the king has been the best one so far (not counting the pc games) but its just years I mean for good sake the game came out in 2003 everything has moved on since then and im glad someone is going to have a crack at topping it I just can not wait. :D

Return of the King was at least decent, and I enjoyed the Battle for Middle Earth games.. but I don't think there's ever been a truely great LoTR game, certainly nothing that has done it justice.

That being said, I don't expect this one to be anything Earth shattering (prove me wrong!) But as long as they can create an enjoyable experience that's fun to play, I'm in.

Yes, the PC BFME games are definitly fun, but i still have to go with the old classic Age of Empires for RTS like that. It was lack luster in my opinion, but none the less, BMFE was good. I just really hope they dont disappoint since Conquest was short and online play is lacking. If this is going to be like Elder Scrolls tho, i might want to give up on hope lol

Dearly hope so, Lord of the Rings: Return of the King got me into the series (know it sounds stupied, but I saw my brother playing it then I read the books and saw the movies). Me and my sister spent hours down in our basement playing that game. I have beat it over and over again. BFME was also fun, but I agree with whoever posted the comment about Age of Empires, which is the best. I still have epic 2 hour long battles. Lord of the Rings: The Third Age was fun but I never beat it, my brother got bored of it and sold it :( I have never played LOTRO, but I heard its fun. I hope this game is much better, a LOTR rpg online w/ co-op and hopefully couch co-op.

I have played numerous LOTR-based video games (not Conquest), and I have to say, I enjoy them all. I especially like the BFME series and lotro. From the trailer, I gather that this game will be a bit faster paced than lotro, which I think I'd enjoy :)

Same here, never played Conquest or The Third Age, but every other LotR game I have enjoyed to varying extents.

IMHO the Lord of the Rings Online is the best LotR game to date. RJ RotWK a mod for BFME2:RotWK comes in at a close second.

WILL THIS GAME HAVE A SINGLE-PLAYER CAMPAINGE?

This is really important for me cause I probably won't be playing it if it's only online ( I really don't like the LOTRO, think it's quite weak, bad graphics like most online games ).

YES! Conquest was such a disappointed. I cannot wait for something new. Hopefully this will be better than Return of the King and bring LOTR games back on top.

I too enjoyed the Return of the King game. I still play it every once in a while simply out the joy I get when I pull off an orc bane, warrior bane, or a final judgement combo.

To make a next gen action rpg with a fighting system like RotK would be absolutely phenomenal, and if anyone can do it Snowblind can.

Not to forget LOTRO which is still the best LOTR game, in my opinion.
I have high hopes about this game. And sincerely hope it'll beat Third Age, which is in my opinion the best singleplayer LOTR game.

Return of the King and Conquest are the best games for the PS and Xbox systems so far. Tried playing Third Age last week and only made it 5 min. before shutting it off and playing Borderlands. I just hope it will not be a turn based style of battles.

LoTRO is garbage. The game is turning more and more solo instead of improving their grouping options. Turbine has been deleting group quests in areas with every update.

Also, the soundtrack of the game is horrible, like you're playing some Snes game at best, instead of including some epic movie type themes. Only thing it has going for it is there's plenty of lore and it does look pretty. This game will easily better that though, looks like.
