I love WITN, don't doubt this, but i hate how poorly this game was developed.

I find it highly entertaining, and very appealing, however, it just wasn't done well.

Clarification: Just to start, the box was not descriptive at all...i got so little information out of it.
Then the manual, all it tells us is how the screen looks...nothing about abilities, or the special abilities like tracking for the ranger.
Within the game, we get no tutorial at all, except for a few tips.
The WORST problem here is the bugs, the most major being the one where i cannot get past the end of the Mirkwood level, which has stopped my progress through the game and has left me feeling unhappy towards this game...I'm thinking about returning it and just getting Skyrim when it comes out instead :(.

This game feels like it was rushed and put together in a small amount of time. It doesn't even feel like it was tested for bugs.

If anyone can tell me how to get past Mirkwood without joining an online game, i would be very grateful :)

This small review is purely my opinion, i have felt inclined to post this in hopes of Snowblind seeing this. I feel that this company may not be the best choice for me in the future, but i want to be proven wrong in that respect (please...)

I am moving this thread to the Feedback forum. On topic: there is an online manual that is very detailed. See here (http://www.warinthenorth.com/the-game/support/manuals)

I do not think the game was rushed. I think it was an ambitious project launched on multiple platforms and across regions, and with modern games some bugs are to be expected. I don't like them anymore than anyone else, but games with giant budgets like Fallout shipped with game breaking glitches, so it really isn't something new to us gamers nowadays.

I feel the game as the OP, i often think they only tested Co Op (which is really fun) and left single player to the birds. There ARE alot of bugs in this game despite fanboys claiming they are "features" like the problems with the AI.

This game suffers from the Obsidian Complex, where they have great writers and artists but the technical aspects cause problems. The environments and characters look incredible for sure, but as most reviewers state the issues are more other things which hopefully can get fixed with a patch

Other games did it, so it's acceptable for this game to do it? No. Sorry. This excuse doesn't pass. When Toyota had problems with its accelerators, it didn't make Ford's issues with rolling SUVs any more acceptable.

Game developers need to start respecting quality assurance. As soon as timelines get short, testing time is the first to get sacrificed. This is a major trend these days in games, and we as consumers need to make sure publishers understand that it's not acceptable. Games today are infinitely more complex than the games of 10 years ago. It's time for publishers to recognize that testing is also infinitely more complex.

Manage scope. Accept that you can't put everything you want in a game and test it appropriately and release on time and budget. Test based on requirements and features, not based on code and functions.

I am enjoying the game, but the issues I've mentioned in a few other posts are quickly bringing my enjoyment down, and if it continues like this I suspect I'll never finish the game. Nor will I be checking Snowblind's web site for their next release.

So much of the shit you just said is just that...shit. Unless you actually develop games then gtfo.

That is not what I said. All I am pointing out is that nobody accused Bethesda of rushing the game. I agree that it would be in the interest of the industry to stop the "we'll patch it later" but then that's how we get big budget games out every year so... no magic answer.
