You are the admin and i wanted to say thank you for the forums....also i dont know if you have direct contact with snowblind but i had an idea for future.....

this is what LOTR Conquest should have been like....you think they could use the engine from this game to re-enact major battles from the films/books...hardcore brutal limb slicing, head chopping, run you through with my sword combat. Conquest had good intensions adding mounted combat but it was soo horrible because someone could breath on you and knock you off your horse.....but a video game that would let you PLAY the films with this combat style...and throw in some horses would be sweet...but tell me what you think

I think it sounds fun :)

I also think I have NO control over stuff like that, though. *chuckle*

The people I have contact with aren't the ones that make that sort of decision either, I don't think. *laugh*

We do have people reading the forums on a fairly regular basis, though, so one of them might see it and pass it along!

see this is why im studying to do this....if i ever got too work on a LOTR, Star Wars, or Superman i could literally die after that cause it would be all downhill from there....and its really nice to know that on a game like this the devs at least have some what of an ear to the ground and care about what thier fans think.....thank you soo much

Well,Conquest had potential: Lord of the rings games always do. It's all about the developer. Team needs to be dedicated to their work,not in hurry and most importantly respect the universe they are working on.

You know,that's the main reason why i like Snowblind . First time during my history with games and gaming forums,i see developer team who actually listens to their community and respects their fans. It's something what bigger companies should focus on :D They could actually make sure that they aren't wasting their money and effort on something that's not going to sell.

I think plenty of developers have account on this forum,they just dont have enough time/or simply dont want to post. They have community manager and admins for that :P But I'm sure that at least some of them lurk around here,sometimes.

I did like mounted combat in Conquest,but it was ridiculous how easily you could fall off. One hit was enough to drop you from the saddle,and that's really impractical in bigger battles.

Ps. Sheyla,speaking of our community manager,where is he? I haven't seen his posts for a while.

@Arya,

I actually took over the Community Manager role (and I KNOW you've seen me. :))

Don't worry, I didn't do anything dire with the last one...I promise it wasn't like I was Smeagol and he was the fish... lol. He just moved to another part of Snowblind (but still sits next to me!) He says Hi.

@Haldir: Unfortunately, Conquest was created by EA before WB gained the rights to both the books and the films. We don't have access to their code (our engine is completely proprietary) but we DO have a lot of what you're talking about... (I love a good Orc Decapitation...don't you?!?) Our game doesn't directly follow the story of the films, but you WILL see familiar faces before the path of the 9 and our fellowship diverge. Elrond, Strider, Frodo, Gandalf.... They all make an appearance... so hopefully it will be the game you're looking for. :)

Haha,alright ;) Arya says hello aswell.

I've indeed seen you before,i really appreciate all the time you spend with us. As an Community manager however,you needz new,fancy title! Just to avoid the confusion. And we all like titles after all,dont we?

Haldir,mounted combat does sound really nice: But i wonder if these maps will be open enough for it to be needed? This far,they look like they are pretty..ugh,i cant find better word than small. We haven't really seen any open areas,have we?

Another heavy fact: our characters dont seem to have horses with them. 3 horses cant just appear out of thin air when needed.

Challenge maps though,i think they give perfect base for that. Osgiliath for example,it's really big city with long bridges: Perfect place for a few epic charges,dont you think? :P

@Tina

i was NO WAY implying that Conquest in any way was Snowblinds doing i hope i didnt come off that way..im humbly apologize if i did...i merely wish that we could reboot Conquest using Snowblinds AWSOME engine...and i love limbs and head flying off...i actually asked in another thread,maybe you could answer me here,are dismember and decapitation rare or do they happen pretty often?

Arya...you are correct i dont think mounted combat would work in this game....i just hope since SB has the rights now that perhaps that it might be possible in future installments...i think this engine looks like gold....i just hope in the future that mounted combat might be possible in another game with this engine

They do happen quite often in this game,i think. Just take a look at the gameplay videos,like this one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f49KICKr2dM) or Brutal combat trailer here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nd6bkmbRY8&feature=related).

And hey,a chunk of interesting info here:

What does the Severing System add to the gameplay?

The severing system really allows us to deliver on our promise of taking players to a fully realized, darker side of Middle-earth. Of course, as an Action/RPG supporting 3 player co-op, with severed limbs and finishing moves part of the experience, it also delivers those awesome “did that just happen?!” moments that are such a fun part of playing with friends.

What does Heroic Mode add to gameplay?

By tying heroic mode into the leveling systems we have created a cycle for rewarding proficiency at combat. The better you get at combat, the faster your character levels up. The more your character levels up, the better he gets at combat by unlocking new moves and skills. This spiral is a core component of our combat gameplay.

^ Dont give up yet. There are plenty of stuff yet to be seen,and challenge mode especially can include mounts.

@Haldir - don't worry, I take no offense. :)

Dismemberment and Decapitation are based on how you play. The best way to achieve them is to get your enemy in a prone position. A symbol will flash above their head indicating they are a "easier to take down" - - - If you use your "Heavy Attack" at the right moment when they are prone, that is your best chance to repeat the gore over and over. :) Hope that helps!
