    Trolls

I was thinking about the trailer of E3 and it is a little absurde that a troll is in the light of day , and not become stone.. i hope that they make that cloud black like they did in the 3 movie when happens the attack at Minas Tirith, cause is big detail that makes difference..

    what do you think'

You know that the trolls in the fight at MT and the black gate where (apparently) olog-hai (spelling fail I think) which are a special breed of troll, uber-trolls if you like, which were resistant to sunlight. Also in FOTR the cave troll steps into a beam of sunlight in balins tomb and survives, and I think that the same will happen in WITN, simply because it would be easier on developers.

I think it would be a shame to see a troll in sun light. It's a part of the history to the world and will be a step the for the realism of this game to the univers of Tolkien, but guess that will be hard to make a game that is fully truth to the books But I hope we won't see them in sunlight, but if we do I can surdenly live with it.

    E: Found this on wiki

Olog-hai were "strong, agile, fierce, and cunning" trolls created by Sauron, not unlike the Uruk-hai, and were able to withstand sunlight while under the sway of Sauron's will.

"Forth! Down fear of darkness! Arise! Arise, Riders of Th?oden! Spears shall be shaken, shields shall be splintered! A sword day... a red day... and the sun rises! Ride now... Ride now... Ride! Ride for ruin and the world's ending"

yeah but if you read the book, in MT Sauron put in the sky a big cloud that makes the sun disappear. If you remember Pippin says to Gandald something like this"waking up? is still dark" and Gandalf "Now is always dark".

About Black Gate all land of Mordor have that cloud.. allowing to trolls walk in day and night..

and with the troll of Moria that happens in the movie.. not in the book x)

E: you got your apoint but neverless i think that will be cool if throughout the game, the sky becomes darker and darker as the movie 3.

Lore wise we shouldn't see many of those in this game anyways, at least if it's actually centered around what I would define as the North of Middle-earth, in the North we find Stone Trolls, Cave Trolls (Snow Trolls, who probably excisted, but we can't be sure) and Hill Trolls mostly, those types of Trolls can't stand the sunlight (although some hill trolls where described as being able to fight in the sun light, but that was at the battle of Gorgoroth, so they are probably twisted by Sauron, those trolls might actually have been some kind of Olog-hai, Hill Trolls in the North probably couldn't stand sunlight.. Sauron might had have some Olog-hai in Dol Guldur though, but that's lore wise not known.

Yeah but I prefer the cave troll in the movie because getting stabbed in the foot and running off isn't my idea of a good troll. However going by the screenshots a large portion of this game seems to take place in mirkwood, so going on that assumption it would be quite easy for the devs to make the trees tall and large enough for a troll to walk in some areas in the shade. Ahah, theres a thought what if you could burn trees with fire arrows to expose trolls and goblins and the like to sunlight? Although it would be quite hard to come up with a credible reason why there isn't a raging forest fire in mirkwood. And also you could include day and night in the game to add extra hazard to the game, for example trolls and orcs and goblins are ALOT more frequent and daring at night because the goblins should have good eyesight being cave dwellers and there's no pesky sun to worry about.

You do have a point, but we can't know for sure that the trolls in the movies and this game aren't some other, more sun resistant breed. I think you call it Creative License.

if I understood what you meant, did not have much sense on part of doing a kind of fire, because the three trolls in The Hobbit was to roast a sheep.

As part of having the day and night, night have more orcs and spiders, I think it would give a bright atmosphere to the game, making it more realistic.

Yes of course that the troll in the film is much better than the book but the book was created by Tolkien, and there do not see any reference to Troll to walk in the sun. not this happens in the movie

I didn't understand what you said in the middle of your sentence about the hobbit but I'm pretty sure the trolls would have had enough sense to find a clearing or at least find a way to contain the fire (they can speak understandable language after all)

The whole fire arrow idea occured as I was posting so I thought I would put it with the rest of my post. However like I said it would be difficult to explain why the fire didn't spread, because if mirkwood is the dense, strange forest that I always pictured it as an unchecked fire could be devastating.

If the game had night and day mechanics its would be very cool and interesting to see Trols and spiders come out at night!
