Thanks for reporting that it finally works.

Could anyone who had the problem tell me whether you had to download something from a site or whether it was an automatic update? That way, I can add it to the first post in this thread and hopefully help others who are experiencing this problem.

Thanks in advance and thanks for the patience

I downloaded the 12.2 driver directly from AMD Catalyst Control Center and that's all it took. My card is HD 5770 850M 1GB DDR5 DP HDMI DUAL DVI PCI-E.

Happy to see the update is finally out and has resolved the issue. Good work on SB's and Radeon's part, even if it was frustrating to consumers as a slow process. Enjoy the game guys!

My how the world has changed.

Face it you and me are paycheck to paycheck and in the same boat overall and now we "high five the machine" and blow off "even it was frustrating to the people that paid money".

You and i know I will never get to play the game I paid for because of bugs and there is no hope for a fix. I think any back patting is even more salt on a wound for the consumer that never got to play much of what they bought. Won't even come clean with the player base either. And we are one in the same on the food chain. How we put blinders on ourselves for a paycheck.

Yeah I have a real hard time giving SnowBlind or WB any credit for this fix when it seems like ATI did the heavy lifting and we've all been kept in the dark for such an unreasonably long wait. Btw, I knew this fix was coming because I sent ATI a customer support email and got a response in less than 24 hours informing me my request had been received and was being researched and got my answer within another 24 hours. THAT is a company that cares about its consumers and one that mops up after lazy programmers and morally corrupt executives.

The only problem now is that they aren't gonna be able to get ATI to fix all their other bugs.

I'm a consumer as well. I bought two copies of the game and didn't encounter the multitude of reported bugs, all the way through my 3 playthroughs to a Platinum trophy. So I don't know what you refer to as a paycheck, since I'm a volunteer mod and my income has absolutely nothing to do with SB/Warner.

On the ATI issue, I believe yes both companies do deserve kudos because they went out of their way to fix something that required a second company to intervene and coordination across them. The reason ATI "did the heavy lifting" is because the problem was with them, no company would take on extra work to save another they have nothing to do with.

That is absolute bull Fexelea. ATI addresses issues with a multitude of games every single time they release a new build, and they are well known for it. If the problem was with ATI's drivers and not this horribly buggy game then how come no game has ever had a major issue like this? How come all the other games released during ATI's last build played without stuttering to the point of crashing? Congratulations on having a computer hardware/software combination that doesn't have problems with this game but only someone with blinders on would be unable to see how this game has now become known as one of the absolute worst cross platform releases in gaming history. This game has been out for nearly half a year and it still won't even work on consoles.

ATI cards quite often have stuttering and freezing issues with a lot of games. You can easily find entire lists of games with google that are fixed by a single driver update by ATI. A quick search already gave me: Brink (Bethesda), Rage (Bethesda), League of Legends (Riot Games), ...
Now War in the North is one of them. It's a problem that perhaps shouldn't have occurred, but can you really accuse Snowblind of being lazy and whatnot when so many other (big) gaming studios have the same problems with ATI drivers and cards?
The most important thing is that Snowblind addressed the issue (several months ago if I remember correctly) and ATI fixed it with its latest driver update.

Also, I'm quite sure Fexelea doesn't have "blinders" on as a moderator of this forum. We're watching this forum since the beginning and we're continuing in doing so even months after the release now. We've both had our share of issues being reported and finding attempts to fix them. When there's a disgruntled customer coming to these forums, Fexelea and me are the ones who have to deal with them mostly. If you've ever been in the same position, then you'll know that we know what the issues are with this product.

On the other hand, we also know what's good about this product, for which you seem to have "blinders" on. The only remaining problems with the game are a few bugs that make you unable to progress. Though there are several workarounds, it's annoying and frustrating, we know that. However, the game is far from unplayable as you say it, but these bugs certainly need a more permanent fix.

Yes actually I can and will accuse them of being lazy... and really of just not caring to support their product. I am familiar with the games and issues you listed and there is simply no comparison to this game. Rage was shipped with the wrong driver which caused texture loading problems. It wasn't a lack of play testing, it wasn't a broken game, it was a release mistake and the problem was resolved within hours by just releasing the correct driver. The other games you listed (and any other games you try to list) did not suffer from the pervasive stuttering and outright crash at Carn Dum that LOTR WITN was plagued with for like 5 months.

There are still game breaking bugs all over the place for console players and overall glitches with the game but the real problem is that the multiplay function is broken and that was a major selling point of the game. I never said the game was unplayable I said it was broken. An RPG'esque game that focuses on leveling and looting and co-op is broken if you have to constantly backtrack and lose progress and ultimately start over at random. No one is going to put up with that for very long before giving up on the game.

I don't have blinders on about what's good about the game but that is beside the point in this thread or any other thread about a game breaking bug, and frankly its annoying to continue hearing "its fun when it works" or "well it doesn't crash for me" as an excuse when the game clearly has major known problems that are not being addressed. My complaint is with the COMPANY and its lack of support of the game not with the game.

I don't envy you or any other moderator trying to defend this game or provide tech support. Unfortunately ya'll are the only ones here to listen to the complaints because WB/Snowblind won't support this game themselves.
