EDIT: Some of those pictures make the LEGO Lord of the Rings look like a video game rather than a toy set. Is there any possibility that they are doing both? I know that they are making a "The Hobbit" game, but any news on one of LoTR?
Best if you report the post with the small triangular button at the bottom left of the post. That way Fexelea and me will find and remove stuff like that a lot faster

Most of the screens that have been released now were computer models of what they think they'll be making for the LOTR sets. That might explain the video gamish look of it all, but a LEGO LOTR game is rather realistic if you ask me.
I do agree with Canterbury that some of the sets look a bit too small. I especially have the Helm's deep set in mind.

This is the official version (for as far as we know)

    And this is fanmade stuff

I would know which one to choose :P

Helms Deep needs to be a bigger set. Esp with the wall and all. I hope they include the Elves.

Maybe I am still a bit too close to my childhood, but just looking at that fan-made Lego set invokes my inner toy master! I would carry it away to my room, close the door tight, and then play until the wee hours of the morning. I have to agree with ElveHaldir - I know which one I would buy, as well.

It seems that LEGO LOTR: The Game has also been officially announced today.
LEGO fans who unboxed the sets of LOTR were able to find a LEGO LOTR announcement in their boxes.

Meh. Never been a fan of Lego games.

I mean Lego LOTR will be clearly following the movies and we already have several games based on the story of the movies.

I'd prefer more LOTR games like WITN which have a new story or how about a LOTR game which tackled The Hobbit? We've only had one game based on The Hobbit. However I think the upcoming Hobbit movie is set to change that...

But come on. Another game where we play Aragorn, Frodo and Gandalf? I mean how about a LOTR game set in the ages past? Is that too much to ask for?

Imagine, if you would, HolyTemplarKnight, if they had all of the unique features of past LEGO titles in it, though! The ability to create your own characters and design your own levels. To me it sounds like good fun, although I agree that it may be a little... what is the word that I am looking for? Derivative, of past titles. Plus, I am in agreement with you as regards to LEGO titles - I lost interest in them a long ways back, after Lego Star Wars II. Maybe, though, LEGO Lord of the Rings might re-kindle that original interest that I had with the series.

I may well revert back into a child when I see a LEGO set, but I am alright with that. I am positively giddy with excitement.

So far only LEGO Batman has kept my attention long enough for me to finish it. I stopped half-way through with the others (although Harry Potter was pretty fun). I'll most likely end up getting it when the price drops.
