    The Hobbit Media Conference

For anybody interested, a link to a video of the recent Hobbit media conference: http://www.3news.co.nz/The-Hobbit-me...0/Default.aspx

It seems that the cast are starting to form the same sort of camaradarie we've seen in the LOTR cast. One of my biggest concerns in regards to The Hobbit films was that Peter Jackson didn't have his heart in the project and that this might affect the cast and their working relationship. I think my fears are unwarranted, however.

Some interesting points from the video; it seems the Dwarves are going to be very distinct from one another. I assume this means less prosthetics and probably very varied beards. I'm glad to hear this; a cast of 13 characters who all looked the same wouldn't have been particularly memorable.

We also get some confirmation that the Dwarves will sing in the films. As Peter Jackson left out most of the singing in LOTR, this gives me some hope that he's more embracing of the nature of the book, so with some luck perhaps we will get talking Eagles, Wargs and Trolls.

    God I hope it's good.

I wonder what they're doing for the official soundtrack...

Looks like they are on track to blow us away, yet again. You can feel the sense of a "Fellowship" of sorts already between them.

    Most exciting, indeed.

I'm pretty sure Howard Shore's confirmed himself, though I don't know if it's official yet.

While not announced yet, it's 99% locked in for Shore.

^A few weeks ago in a radio interview Howard Shore said that this has been a project with PJ for years while they were working on the music for LOTR movies.

I don't really expect a lot of singing by the dwarves in The Hobbit, maybe 1 or 2 songs, and some kind of second element of the songs, like in Khazad-Dûm secuence, but maybe some of the songs may be included in the dialogues between them.

What has been in my mind as a personal excercise is the thing about the animals talking, it's a weird thing, and for Narnia it works on their own universe, but here it will have to have a much more natural flow. But naturally I hope that they are triying all the possible solutions
