WitN - Info (Info pack released)

    Hi all!

So,for some reason Snowblind isn't giving us updates very often,( i quess they are working with the game so hard ^^ ) but i've noticed that there are lots of previews/interviews and such stuff about this game in other sites.

But the idea is that we could gather some information/interviews etc here, maybe do somekinda F.A.Q later,in order to help everyone(especially the new ones who dont know much about this game) know what is going on,or then just gather some links what you have found to be useful! Im thinking of making somekinda list later too, about those things they have already promised to be in game. Anyways now i just put some links here, maybe you'll find something new : > Remember to post too if you have something new info,so i'll edit them here.

I just posted couple of new Stuff in the first post, Shacknews and Kotaku previews and also G4TV interview (from E3)

Im actually starting to make that list/our own info book or whatever you wanna call it now. When i first heard about this game,i spend days just looking for all kinds of info and asking lots of things, like most of us i quess. Now im trying to gather that interesting stuff here,in one place so you (mostly new people) dont have to search it so much. I'll suggest you put your own links here if they aren't in the first post and correct me if im wrong.

About that info list..i haven't yet decided how to do it :F I would like to bring all information what snowblind has given us in other places in this topick, about character customization,co-op,release date(s) etc in simple way!

It could also lower the number of new topics here ^^

    Well i try something.

    Still no new information.....

So yea its great that the website got a little update, but couldn't they also have posted SOMETHING new? There is so little known about this game. I am not going to spend $50 on something that will be another LotR flop.

Bombard us with information please! Or at least respond to different threads. It's not like there are so many that you can't handle the flow.

I attached it into my post, can you download it now?

Im not one of the developers or anything like that, all of this info is collected from previews/interviews/ and such given by snowblind. There is quite a lot new info, and there are answers to some questions what people keep asking here.

And of course some info can be wrong. Im really tired atm..maybe i'll edit it later.

I found this interview with lead designer Scott Crawford on a Dutch gaming site. Those of you who can read Dutch can read it here:
    http://www.9lives.be/games/lord-of-t...r-in-the-north

For the others I'll try to sum up the most important points of the interview (other Dutch-speakers may help me, because I don't have a lot of time at hand right now)

    * a quote of something Gandalf said during the council of Elrond about the hunt for Smeagol; (attempted translation) "some scouts have already been sent out, others will leave tomorrow. Elrond will send out Elves, who will meet Rangers and perhaps even Thranduil's folk in Mirkwood. Aragorn has left with the sons of Elrond. We need to search throughout the lands before our next move may be made"
--> Players may expect to be a part of these actions which will eventually lead them into a great adventure. Crawford is trying his best to implement the player without removing or hurting anything from the lore.

    * Each race will have it's own, unique abilities (as was already known). A phrase suiting the game best would be "United we stand, divided we fall". Crawford refers to the War of the Ring where each race had to work together to defeat Sauron and implements this on a smaller scale within your "fellowship".

    * Some dialogue options will be race specific. A large part of the story is also narrated by the main character himself or herself. An example is given;
A conversation about the Free Peoples working together; an NPC may start telling about the Battle of the Five Armies, while a Ranger will choose for a different event. A Dwarf may choose for an eyewitness's story of the battle etc.

    * There will be NPC-characters from both movies and books. We may expect to run into:
Aragorn, Elrond (these 2 will play a major part), Radagst the Brown, Halbarad the Ranger, Elrohir and Elladan, and many others along with a few characters invented by Snowblind. (of which he is certain true Tolkien fans won't complain)

    * The player will work along with NPCs both actively and passively. Actively meaning fighting alongside NPC; Passively meaning as a source of information about places, characters, ...
Crawford once more refers to the dozens of characters the Fellowship met during the War of the Ring. He will be trying to give players of WitN the same experience.

    * Crawford assures us that NPC won't feel out of place by being generic fantasy figures. Each character and storyline will be put nexto both movies and books and tested whether it's possible what each character says.

    * Players will visit both locations as seen in movies as described in books. Some locations have never been shown before, except for maps of Middle-earth, making this game a cool experience.

    * Crawford argues that he's constantly reading and rereading all of the Tolkien books related to Middle-earth. By rereading certain phrases, with something they need in the game in mind, he's trying to create an experience as close to the lore as possible.

That's all I got out of it. I hope you guys will at least find some info cool

A long time ago, a LOTR RPG like this one existed, I came to honour that RPG
