Hey Guys, I just started playing the free version of LOTRO a few days ago, I am a Dwarf that came from the Blue Mountains called Jmorin. It was pretty cool at first, now I am on Level 7, but it's kind of confusing in a way. For example does LOTRO follow a story line? And if it does what is it? Can you freely move to different regions of Middle Earth? And how do you upgrade your weapons?

It follows the story of the first book, Fellowship of the Rings, and you get "Epic" quests, which are the storyline quests. Other quests are self-contained stories, the epic ones all tie together and will give you cutscenes etc.

You can freely move to any region of Middle Earth (all the way up to Mirkwood, with further zones coming in the future), but I wouldn't recommend it until you're higher level. :P

You get better weapons either via crafting, quest rewards, drops from monsters, or you can do skirmishes and cash in the skirmish marks for weapons.

Thanks Man, I'm a Level 9 now but it's still a little confusing while playing like can you team up with other other players and go across Middle Earth in your own Fellowship? Also do you ever meet any bad heroes in the game which you can kill?

You will meet nazguls,witch-king for example. I Highly recommend that you start epic quest (At level 13,talk to Barliman butterbur in Prancing pony). At the beginning you must help Aragorn in bree, then it continues to the barrow downs ; )

And yes, game has lots of things what you can/must do with your fellowship. You can also create fellowship with your friends and yes, travel across the middle-earth.

You will recognize the epic quest because of the ring of fire symbol above NPCs heads. I wouldn't hurry it tho, if you are in Eered Luin there are tons of quests to do there that can easily take you to level 20!

Groups are called fellowships, and you can find others by using the LFF channel (it's part of your chat options just click on the menu under the chat and select output channel LFF (looking for fellowship). Once you found someone who wants to team up, simply click on their name > fellowship > invite.

You will know when quests are recommended for a fellowship, but there are few of those at low levels to facilitate you getting used to the game and your character first.

You can have groups of up to 6 people for normal questing, and later in the game (lvl50+) 12 and 24 for raiding. By then you will also want to know about "Global looking for fellowship" which does not restrict chat to your area but instead across the server.

Thanks for the help guys, at the time of writing this I am a Level 11, but I am in Thorin's Halls though and I am having extreme difficulty in doing these two certain quests. One of the quests is having to retrieve this box thing from this super scary wight infested cemetary like thing. The other is killing of this Goblin Chief who is guarded by three Level 47's and 48's Dourhand Warriors. For the first one I teamed up with this elf guy who was a couple Levels higher than I was and both of us together could take on one wight which was like a Level 15. This guy ditches me while I am fighting two wight's and I am forced to retreat somewhere way farther the place where I was. Almost the same thing happened to me with the Dourhand but at least the other Dwarves in my Fellowship died with me. Don't think I am some game addict but seriously how do I get past these quests?

That place west of Thorin's Hall is a lvl 45+ area, you cannot have any quests there yet. You will be going there to do many of Thorin's rep quests later, but you will just get killed at your level so you should not head that way for now.

What r the name of the quests? I remember a Goblin boss in Ered Luin but he was near Duillond not Thorin's.

The epic storyline is probably the one of the best parts (if not the best part) of the game. You start out helping people like Aragorn and Gandalf, then you set out on your own adventure apart from the fellowship. All the little lore tidbits throughout are enough to make lore monkies like me all happy inside, especially when you reach the later parts of volume one.

I've played the game a fair bit and I'm level 31 as a Free to Play-er. But I have kinda lost intrest in it, I'm on the US servers though, since I started before the game went F2P in Europe. I play on Arkenstone but I got some characters on Firefoot and Nimrodil aswell.

I've been casually playing this game for a few months (only level 11). It's quite enjoyable and I'm just taking my time before I move onto different areas. It's definitely a great way to keep me occupied whilst waiting for WitN!

Any tips for me at level 11? At the minute I'm just doing random quests and a spot of crafting too.
