And you can take a instant horse ride incase you don't want to spend the time on the road just getting to the towns, but let me tell you going from the North Downs all the way to Rivendell with no loading screens is an adventure on its own in that game. Even though that game sucks now, but they are adding massive areas as expansions every year (Mirkwood last year, Moria in 2008, probably Rohan this year, and I am going to resubscribe to the game just to experience the path to Rohan).
i want it to be like that but where you have to discover the town before you can insta-travel but be able to go along the road and just go off to the side if you want to go into a dungeon or something

The confirmation of split screen offline co-op tells me this will not have a Diablo-esque top down or isometric view. Not that it won't play like Diablo- i think it will.

    I hope i'm wrong!

Your not. I read the Playstation May 2010 issue, and it sounded that because its drop in drop out multiplayer, its going to be sort of open world, sort of get assigned missions.

    No huge open worlds.

I'm not sure if I like the Diablo-style of going to areas once I finish a certain quest. Doesn't really give me the feeling that I am role-playing, it makes me feel like I am following a pre-set thing, which I know I am, but I just like it when I can choose when to do something and where.

It would be awesome if it was like oblivion and free roaming. Also having multiple side quests to get new and un buyable gear like armor and swords.

I would love to see an open world, but not sure how realistic that is in an RPG.

Why wouldn't that be realistic? It has been done with the Oblivion and Fallout series-it can be done with this also.

    Re: Totally open or Diablo-like?

I never even considered a diablo-style layout. Just another thing to worry about until confirmed.
I really hope it is totally open but I do understand the difficulty with this as the map would be huge.

It is being marketed as an rpg and to me an rpg is an open world environment. I haven't played diablo in years but never thought of it as an rpg since you aren't as free as in games like oblivion and fallout
