    Perks and Skills

So, do you think there might be any Perks and Skills in this game, kinda like Fallout 3 and whatnot?

If so lets make some suggestions.

    Perks:
Orc Slayer - 25% more damage against Orcs
Uruk Bane - 25% more damage against Uruks
Sharpshooter - Better accuracy with ranged weapons

    Skills:
Melee - Allows you to use heavier, stronger melee weapons
Unarmed - Increases strength in unarmed combat
Ranged - Allows you to use better ranged weapons

Reputation - Foes will flee when they know they stand no chance against you.

Those are good ideas for perks and stuff, but sometimes I would rather not have perks, they can get in the way. I'd rather that instead just putting a perk on to be good you earn experiance and skill, get what I'm saying?

If there has to have perks in the game, I'd rather they don't be extremely radical in that it makes the game too easy.

This game shouldn't be where you are always trying to get two more kills to get a perk. It should be a reputation that steadily increases.

It shouldn't be called a perk, but an advantage.

If I was fighting a person who has killed 300 orcs before me, do I stand a chance? No. But I am still going to fight, but I won't be so psyched about it. So instead of you being more powerful, it should be them having less moral and thus being not as enthusiastic about fight you.

And of anything, we don't want your enemies being weaker as you go on. So obviously we should have the overconfident guys who have a boost in moral and the guys who know they are going to die. But basically it makes the game alot more fun with you one hitting a guy and having more of a challenge on the next.

I agree that perks would give everybody an unfair advantage and make the game easy. I would prefer that you slowly gain skills, like in Oblivion. In Oblivion if you shot a bow a lot you gained marksmen points and slowly your bow did more damage and is able to zoom in on far out targets.

I think in general perks/skills would be cool in this game. Maybe you could rely on them a little for example maybe your far away from a city and your out of health potions Herblore would come in handy or some situation like that.

I'd rather want a exp-combo system as in the return of the king.Being able to learn some cool moves would be good. But the combos should not be childish and Star Wars-like as in The Conquest

Very good point made by Artic Squirrel. I'd love to have a reputation before me so if I entered a tavern as a nobody I wouldn't get a glance. But once I have slaughtered 100 orcs the people would look at me or the tavern would be stunned to silence.

I'd also like to see an Oblivion-esque skills system whereby constant use of an item will result increased proficiency with it. If I kill 10 orcs with my axe I won't be as swift or deadly as I am with the sword I have killed 250 orcs with.

But here's a question. If the whole skills thing goes ahead, should there be different categories for certain variations of each weapon. Like a separate skill meter (or whatever you want to call it,) for a broadsword and a regular sword? I'd prefer to see diversions made there, but some may like the simplicity of a generalization in that area by just listing it meters/categories as "Swordplay," "Archery" etc. rather than " Broad Sword" "Short Sword" and all the other variations.
